The Best Gift

"It's the most wonderful time of the year!" Yes, but why? Are we so distracted in this "wonderful time of the year" by all of the gift giving and receiving that we have forgotten all about that true meaning of Christmas, the fact the our Lord and Savior, the King of the world was so humbly born in a stable in Bethlehem?

A few nights ago I was in a deep conversation with Bekah and Trace. (That's my twin sister and her boyfriend for anyone who may not know me.) While listening to Trace talk, I looked over at our Christmas tree which didn't actually have any gifts under it at the time, but I imagined some under there anyways. And I just had a simple thought. A thought that many people have had, but for some reason it just really hit me this time: Jesus really is the greatest gift we could ever ask for, imagine, or receive. So for a split second, I imagined Jesus in one of those little imaginary boxes under my tree. And then I quickly had another thought: maybe that's why our faith can sometimes be so shallow. (Preaching to myself too, no worries if that hit you.)  Maybe we figuratively speaking place God in this tiny box and start to believe that His power is confined only to that space. Inside the box is what we know God can do, but on the outside is only things we dream of God doing, but so foolishly believe that for some reason, He cannot (or maybe won't) do.

Our great and powerful God has no limit to what He can do. We have to step out on faith and quit limiting God to what we THINK He can do, and have faith in what we KNOW He can do. (He replied, "Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."-Matthew 17:20) The same God that has performed miracles before is still in the miracle working business. It may seem impossible, because we are only human and our small minds can't seem to comprehend it, but with God all things are possible. "With man, this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."-Matthew 19:26

Don't give up.

Step out on faith.

Thank God for the small things.

Expect Him to do big things.

Pray with full faith.

Remember you are loved.
